SteamDONKEY Update

SteamDONKEY is alive and well in Happy Valley, Utah, in the US of A. With four, solid weekends under our belt, we are ready to book for 2007. We have not disappointed and been asked back by all four clubs in which we played. We only need to add two more clubs to sufficiently fill the schedule for 2007. Being old and out-of-shape, SteamDONKEY's goal is to play two weekends a month throughout 2007. (Besides, the Dough Boy's wife would KILL us if we played more than that.)

Highlights (and lowlights -- depending on your perspective) of the past four gigs

Salt Creek Sports Lounge -- Nephi, Utah
After four hours of playing our collective guts out, we felt failure. No dancers, no mad applause, no response whatsoever. Reluctantly, we asked the waitress how we did. "You guys were FANTASTIC! When are you coming back?" Shocked, we went to the bartender to collect our booty. "Here's a tip from the door. You guys were great." A follow-up call to the owner the next day netted gigs for the next few months. Very strange, indeed....

Wee Blue Inn -- Payson, Utah
After expecting very little, we were pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Lots of dancing and cheering. Even received a "you're a great guitarist; it's like you're making love to your guitar." Needless to write, but that man was VERY drunk. A few pretty bar flies all in a row, performing odd acts on the dance floor. One even hummed the Star Bangled Banner.... Once again, we're booked for 2007.

The Other End -- Heber, Utah
Our best gig yet. We sounded great. The crowd dug us. Emily was there with her boyfriend. (Joe Jackson would have been inspired to write a song.) They said to call for future dates.

SteamDONKEY will be at Flirts in Lehi, Utah this weekend, November 17 and 18. We're expecting a few friends on Friday night, so hopefully the primer will get the crowd going and we'll have one more notch in our SteamDONKEY belt. Hope to see you there!!!

Keep the faith,
Love,

It's another new band. Bobo, Grandpa Funk, and the Dough Boy have banded together to start the new power-trio:

SteamDONKEY

SteamDONKEY plays classic rock. However, with a blues-based guitarist, a funk/rock bassist, and a jazz/fusion drummer, you never know what quite to expect. SteamDONKEY rocks everything, from the Doors to the Eagle to SRV to Johnny Cash to a few SteamDONKEY originals. Bring your tape recorder, because every night offers a new take on the songs from the past.

SteamDONKEY -- You can't help but smile when you say it REAL LOUD! SHHHHteamDONKEY!!!

Blues Highway rides again!!!

Bobo's back with Blues Highway. Randy, Frank, and Terry have reunited with Bobo for their Central Utah County tour. The band played once in March at the club formerly known as La Casa (i.e., Flirts). It was like old times. Lotsa smoke and lotsa drunks. And, of course, lotsa Rock and Roll, Blues Highway style!

Watch for Blues Highway on the first weekend in June at Flirts.

Bobo's Going Home!!!

Bobo's going back to Utah. Minnesota didn't work out. Although it was quite an experience playing with Adam's Eve, Bobo's primed to start working with Wave-O-Blues again. Needless to say, Bobo is STOKED!

Ready or not, here comes BOBO!

(Thanks, MN, for the memories...)

Adam's Eve @ the Dodge County Fair
July 19, 2003

Adam's Eve played in the Beer Garden at the Dodge County Fair in Kasson, MN on Saturday. Since it was at a county fair, we played outdoors which meant plenty of mosquitos. Somewhere in the third set, I looked over at Brad (AE lead guitarist) and he's shaking his arm like it's on fire. Turns out that old Brad was trying to get a mosquito off his arm. Funny stuff.

Usual crowd in that they didn't dance until about the middle of the final set and then screamed bloody murder when the gig ended.

"ONE MORE SONG!"

"YOU DIDN'T PLAY ANY PAT BOONE, YOU @#$%ERS!"

"ONE MORE SONG!"

"PLAY SOME COUNTRY! GARTH BROOKS IS THE GREATEST MUSICIAN SINCE TINY TIM!"

"ONE MORE SONG!"

Well, we played 3 more songs. Crowd dug it until we stopped again.

"ONE MORE SONG!" etc. etc. etc. (You get the idea. Obnoxious people and alcohol don't mix.)

Adam's Eve plays this Friday at WD's in Mazeppa, MN. (Do you think there's an advanced placement class at Mazeppa High on how to spell "Mazeppa?") And at the Sandpit party on Saturday. I believe the Sandpit party is a private party but sounds like a cool gig. Crash it if you can find it.

Love and understanding,

Bobo's Gotta New Bag!
Bobo Joins Adam's Eve in MN

Greetings from humid/muggy/mosquito-infested Rochester, Minnesota!

On June 16th, 2003, I agreed to terms with Rochester-based rock and roll band, Adam's Eve. As Adam's Eve's newest member, I will be the backup vocalist/keyboardist/rhythm guitarist/harmonicist/slide guitarist/sound system guyist for the classic rock band. Basically, Bobo's gladly taking a backseat to the lovely and talented Eve.

On July 5th, 2003, I played my first gig on the Mississippi river. Not a bad gig considering I'm about as technically inclined as a soggy potato chip and couldn't get the #$%@ PA to work. I also served as a buffet for the passing mosquitoes on the Em-Eye-Ess-Ess-Eye-Ess-Ess-Eye-Pee-Pee-Eye. (One of those little buggers bit me right under the eye!!!)

On July 12, 2003, I played with AE (that's Adam's Eve) at a small bar here in Rochester. Pretty good night. I let my hair down and it almost touched my ears. The crowd seemed to dig old Bobo, although Eve is the show. (If you visit the website, you'll see why. Eve is one handsome woman!) Even old Brad (AE's lead guitarist) got into the act and tore up his fret board.

Now that Bobo is gigging again, I'll be sure to update all two of you on our shows. If you're ever in MN, stop in and catch a show!

Rock on!

Bobo in Minnesota

Where has Bobo been?

Well, here I am. Bandless, friendless, and gainfully employed in Rochester. (That's Rochester, MINNESOTA!)

It's almost summer in MN, so I've enjoyed my stay so far. I hear winter's are colder than... well... very cold. (Can you say "30-BELOW ZERO?" I thought you could...)

With my departure from UT came the demise of two great bands (in their own rite) -- The Happy-Time Jam Band and Blues Highway. (A eulogistic epilogue will follow in the days to come.)

The Band Scene in MN
Or, Bobo's got a new band... NOT

I've auditioned for two bands since landing in MN. I was hired by one, did one show, and didn't hear from them again. Someone said that I "freaked 'em out." Whatever that means... The second band is still thinking about it. We'll see...

Yo... Bobo's gotta get his own band. He's got to resurrect the Happy-Time Jam Band. Bobo's his own man, for better or worse. He's got to finish (or, should we say start) recording his CD. Bobo's gotta get a new bag...

Stay tuned for more later... (Bobo's gotta stay gainfully employed...)
